AN ARCHAISTIC FAMILLE ROSE PORCELAIN BAXIAN VASE, CHINA, 19TH CENTURY
Based on an archaic bronze shape the ovoid body is raised on a spreading foot depicting a peacock and birds amongst flowers and rocks enclosed by a ruyi band and a lappet band at the bottom; on the shoulder a peonies and peaches band, and two different keyfret bands, on the neck a pair of foliated handles and by the moth rim beribboned attributes of the Eight Daoist Immortals (an baxian) band. In very good conditions, a tiny old flake on the rim, minor firing spots and minor wears on the surface.
