Swiss edition of Ovid's erotic works with commentary by Micyllus, born Jakob Moltzer, philologist and humanist who was in close contact with Melanchthon. It is preceded by a biography of the great Sulmonese from 'De Poetarum Historia' by the humanist from Ferrrara Gregorio Giraldi Lilio. The work contains: Amores, Ars amatoria, Remedia amoris, De medicamine faciei, Halieutica, Consolatio a Liviam de morte Drusi, Nux, Fragmenta ex epigrammatis and also, of uncertain attribution, Carmen ad Pisonem, De pulice elegia, De philomela.Folio, (310 x 210 mm). Printer's device to title-page, woodcut initials, three-column final index (a few dampstains in the margins mainly to the end leaves, reinforced title-page with repaired tear). 18th-century full vellum binding with gilt title-piece to spine.
