Scarce first edition, last appearing at auction in 1995 (RBH), of this work on the history of Naples, inspired by the work of the Neapolitan writer Tommaso Costo who had accused Bacco of plagiarism in 1593. Also included in the lot is Pecchia's History of Naples.8vo, (155 x 102 mm). 13 full-page woodcut arms and descriptions of the provinces and major cities, initials and woodcut illustrations (light browning). 19th-century half-leather binding with gilt title and decoration on spine, cloth place-marker (some wear).
