First edition of this treatise on fortifications structured in 7 chapters: in the first two the author takes up what he had already discussed in the Corona Imperiale (1618), in the third he expounds the method of fortifying in the Dutch manner, in the fourth he describes the camp housing, in the fifth the rules for housing, and in the sixth the manner of making squadron; the last chapter, with small geometrical diagrams in the text, is dedicated to the extraction of the square root.Folio, (305x205 mm). Engraved title-page depicting Saints Mark and Theodore with doge's horn and portrait of the author, 45 figures, of which 37 in the text and 8 out of text (slightly browned). 20th-century full leather binding with boards framed by gilt fillets, gilt title and decorations on spine (some wear).
