The large map of the southern hemisphere and the male and female portraits of the indigenous peoples are particularly beautiful.4to, (272 x 200mm). Portrait, large map of the southern hemisphere folded several times, folding map of the island of Tahiti, 49 plates of which 12 folded (repairs to worming on last few leaves, lightly touching the engraved plates, some wear). Contemporary binding in full marbled leather, gilt title and vignettes on spine, gilt title on spine, speckled edges, endpapers with 18th-century coloured paper (chipping on spine, light wear). (1)
