A very rare collection on Holland from the monumental collection 'Galerie Agr?able du Monde' issued in 66 volumes, with about 3,000 plates with panoramic views of cities, maps, scenes of daily life and representations of religious customs, illustrating various locations around the world as they were known to Europeans at the beginning of the 18th century. Although it is common to find loose plates on the market, there are no recent auctions of the work (RBH).3 works in one volume, folio, (365 x 254mm). Title-pages printed in red and black for the three parts, index of plates at the beginning, 131 double-page or folding plates (of 144) depicting topographical maps, maps, views, interior scenes and plans of buildings (according to the index 13 plates are missing, map 34 with a loss of engraved title at the top, map 49 Mare Kerck with a restoration at the lower right corner, map 58, the view of Den Haag is missing one of the 4 sections which has been torn, some small waterstains mainly at the upper margin, marginal tears to folded leaves, last 5 leaves with a dampstain at the lower corner, browning). Contemporary half-leather binding with gilt title and decoration on spine (some serious wear but binding firm). Please contact the department for a detailed condition report. (1)
