Original edition of this treatise in which the author applies astrology to medicine, supporting its legitimate use but condemning superstition. Several engravings and diagrams in text, all square in shape except that on leaf 64, which is circular and graphically anticipates the natal diagrams produced in later centuries.4to, (217 x 158mm). Woodcut printer's device to title-page, schematic astrological diagrams and engravings, decorated initials (repaired with paper additions to title-page without loss of text, foxing, p. 68 with repairs to lower margin, pronounced stains to leaves 97-102, restoration to f.100 with small loss of text, marginal worming without touching text with some repairs to last few leaves). Ff. 53-54 omitted from foliation, but complete. Modern full vellum binding. Provenance: several early instances of underlining concentrated in the chapter on the power of the moon in forecasting days of well-being and malaise (ff. 20; 24). (1)
