Scarce second complete edition, printed directly from the original 1552 plates made by Giulio de Musi (1520-1574) from drawings by the Author and Pier Matteo Pini (16th century). This is one of the fundamental works in the history of medicine with the first studies on the kidneys, the venous system, the teeth and hearing with the discovery of the Eustachian tube. Folio, (368 x 234 mm). Frontispiece with portrait of dedicatee Pope Clement XI, engraved vignette to title-page, 47 plates (reinforcements to frontispiece, title-page, and margins of first leaves, dampstain to upper margin of some leaves, plate 45 bound after p. 78, some light wear).
