Partial collection of the second Italian edition (third overall), in an armorial binding from the library of a noble family, probably Polish, of this masterwork of the Enlightenment. The Livorno edition was produced by Giuseppe Aubert, a famous printer and publisher of French origin active in the city from around 1760 onwards.20 volumes (of 33), (412 x 260mm). Text: 15 of 17 (the last 2 and the 4 volumes of the supplement are missing); Planches: 5 parts in 6 volumes (of 12, these are the first 5 parts with the second tome divided into two volumes) with a total of 1420 (of 1423) plates (missing: 1st volume: Planche II Le squelette vu de cote; 3rd volume: first section: Planche X, 3 and 6 suites; stains to the margins of the first and fourth volumes, otherwise in fair internal condition). Contemporary full leather binding with the arms of a noble family, probably Polish, with a heraldic shield surmounted by a helmet with crest, initials surmounted by a crown on spine, gilt title-pieces to spines, red edges (several volumes with rubbing, wear, and chipping). Provenance: The plates have been collated according to the internal index of the volumes, the text has not been collated therefore the lot is sold as a collection of plates not subject to return.
