Rare 250cc example from Sertum. Coming from an important collection in Turin.
The Officine Meccaniche Fausto Alberti, a company specialising in the construction of engines for industrial and power boat use, founded Sertum in 1932, which was born as a manufacturer of motorcycles. The first model of production was a 174 4-stroke with side valves, which received a fair amount of commercial success. From this unit, the engine of the 250cc was then derived. Over the years, Sertum became one of the most important motorcycle companies, as well as Moto Guzzi, Benelli, Gilera and Bianchi. During the war, Sertum became a supplier to the Royal Army and once the conflict ended, the production of civil motorcycles resumed, but failed to meet the favour of the public that demanded more and more scooters and light motorcycles. The company closed in 1952.
Coming from a collection in Turin, this Sertum 250 VL is an excellent example complete in many of its details and peculiarities. The bike is radiated from the office but retains its registration certificate and its original license plate Asti.
