Just a decade after the end of the war, Alfa Romeo decided to make something that would revive the glories of pre-war production, producing speedy and manageable cars. It was in this climate that the Giulietta was designed in two versions, sedan and coupe. Due to some problems at the factory, the car manufacturer was forced to produce only the coupe model, called Sprint. Thus, the first model that bears the name Giulietta was born.
The Giulietta Sprint was presented as a prototype in 1954 and was immediately put into production. Its immediate success exceeded all expectations thanks, above all, to the brilliant engine, designed under the direction of engineer Busso, which had very advanced technical features for the time. The double overhead camshaft and rear-wheel drive made the car fast and very pleasant to drive. Thanks to this and to its successful line, its success was such that the Giulietta was given the affectionate nickname of Fidanzata D'Italia - Italy’s girlfriend.
The aggressive but elegant line and the dark blue shade of this beautiful car conquer at first sight. The absolutely original grey, white and blue interior and its original Fergat rims (also for the spare wheel) together with the care that has been put into preserving it make this car a unique and wonderful model. Third series of 1962 with a 1,300 km engine that has covered only 30,092 km in 58 years, it underwent a major restoration in 1992 (made by Antonietti, historic Alfa Romeo workshop in Fabriano, which continues to follow the car to this day). The works involved the bodywork, all the mechanics, suspension, brakes, electrical system, and the engine in every aspect always using only original Alfa Romeo spare parts. Before the auction in June 2020, the current owner (the son of a great collector and Alfa Romeo enthusiast) asked Antonietti workshop to perform a general check of the car. They replaced the ordinary components such as the battery, oil, etc. ... and carried out a total overhaul of the entire braking system, (even the brake rubbers) all accompanied by an exhaustive invoice of course. The car is regularly registered with the ASI register and awarded with the gold plate n.7571. In addition, the car also has the FIVA file. In short, a beautiful car made even more beautiful by the care and passion of an Italian gentleman.
