Creating, organising and working for “Art for Art” has given us at the FAI Delegation of Imperia an idea of the degree of solidarity that animates the world of culture and art in Liguria (and not only). Not many words were needed to convince artists, antique dealers and collectors to donate the precious fruits of their activity to help the work of the FAI in L’Aquila – a whole host of people who understood the need to take part in an initiative that through the restoration of the very symbol of L’Aquila – the 99 Cannelle Fountain – would warm the heart and lighten the spirit of a city that must not and wants not to lose its sense of pride in its long history that started well over eight centuries ago. Myriad works, objects and true collaboration have started to pour in. We owe so much gratitude to all those people who have helped us! Friendship, human warmth and sharing are part and parcel of our gratitude and are indeed sentiments that have enabled us to set up the event. We would therefore like to say a very big thank you to all those people who have supported us in this adventure: from our good friend, Rosetta Consiglio Renosi, without whose help our initiative would never have got off the ground, to Guido Wannenes who made us understand the true significance of the term generosity. As always, local institutions have not denied us the help we requested: the Province of Imperia and the willingness to help offered by the President, Gianni Giuliano – the unique backdrop that was offered by the Province of the main floor of Villa Grock, to the extent of opening up for us the ongoing restoration work in the beautiful rooms of the Villa. The rooms themselves were decorated and furnished by Imperia city council. All those whose donations made “Art for Art” a reality are ever present in our hearts. A particular thank you must also go to the central headquarters of the FAI in Milan and the Regional President of FAI Liguria for their contribution of important works of art that will be included in our auction. What now can be added? Now it’s up to all of you, owners of a catalogue! Without your help all of our work will have been in vain. If truth were told, your participation in our event was from the very beginning, many months ago, the basis of our endeavour. Now we have to bring our initiative to a close so come to Villa Grock and shout out, along with us and our friends in L’Aquila, that Liguria is standing right beside you.
